There are a bajillion reasons to adore Kate + Brian’s rustic and relaxed wedding. But one of them is that it took place at SmogShoppe, one of our very fave L.A. venues. Besides being totally solar-powered and sustainably designed, SmogShoppe is home to a succulent wall ceremony backdrop and chic vintage furnishings. So cool. These two also had Nick Radford and A Stunning Affair on board, working their photography and design magic. Take a peek…
Sparkly, peep-toe Jimmy Choos, anyone? Yes, please!
From Kate: I thought I would be nervous walking down the aisle, but instead I was overflowing with joy and incredibly calm. I was on my Dad’s arm, walking towards the love of my life, while surrounded by all my favorite people. I felt enveloped in love.
Brian: The moment I heard the processional music start (Van Morrison’s “Sweet Thing”) I knew it was real, it was happening, and I could not be more excited. Then I saw Kate, we locked eyes, the audience disappeared and it was us, only us.
Kate says, The venue and the flowers were very important to me. I was dead set on having our wedding at SmogShoppe. It just felt right! The flowers were also very important to me. I wanted lots of bright colored flowers to brighten up the succulent backdrop.
Brian says, We wanted that perfect space that was aesthetically in-line with our style and the way we live, while being a mutable, changeable backdrop. This allowed us to focus on the details, the colors, the smells, and the ambient light.
To keep with the succulent theme, Kate + Brian bought 150 baby succulents and cacti, and planted each one in a tiny tin bucket. After planting them all (a very laborious activity!), Brian laser-cut hearts into wood and engraved each guest’s name and table location onto it.
Congrats Brian + Kate!
