Chelsey + Mark make planning a wedding in four months look like it’s no big thing—and a super fun and creative wedding at that. These two used their relationship as the inspiration—full of surprises, adventures, playfulness and love—and never stopped to worry about what a conventional wedding was “supposed to” look like. The result was things like a splash of pink on Chelsey’s dress, a breakfast for dinner buffet, and the happiest florals they could find in season. Julie Mikos was there to capture it all on camera.
Chelsey’s colorful bouquet recipe: Gerondo daisies, dahlias, tulips, mini callas, South American roses, and peach stock.
Gorgeous venue alert.
Chelsey says, We decided we wanted to do breakfast for dinner, and it was worth it to us to spend the cash to pull it off right. We had a waffle station with four different kinds of waffles, an omelet station, and sweet and savory grits.
Their love story: It was just another Friday night in San Francisco at a friend’s house for a party. He was a very tall guy dressed as Santa Claus. I was a girl who had leftover ingredients after Thanksgiving and showed up with a freshly baked pie. He saw the pie first, but when he saw who baked it he says immediately knew he was going to marry me. (It took me about three seconds longer… when he took off the Santa beard.)
Since then we’ve been each other’s “recess”—planning adventures and surprising each other whenever and however we can with things big and small. Trips to the local trampoline park and trips around the world. Little hand-drawn stick figures and custom paintings from famous artists. And of course pie. Lots of pie.
