Becca + James wanted their wedding day to be rustic and romantic, with a focus on the beauty of springtime in central Texas. And wow, beautiful it sure is! As Michelle Boyd Photography tells it, there were happy tears in over-abundance, organic florals that had everyone’s jaws-dropping, evening sunlight that could have fooled you into thinking it was summer, and the sweetest couple ever.
Becca’s lush bouquet recipe: xerographica, lysmachia, white and light pink ranunculus, cream and light pink spray roses, rex begonia, blackberries, narcissus, anemone, bay leaf, olive branch, seeded eucalyptus, Queen Anne’s lace, poppy pods, hellebore, English vine, dogwood, pieris, spirea, plumose, fern, red carnations, and yellow garden roses.
Becca says, Community is something that defined our day. All of our vendors were friends or friends of friends. The ceremony music was a mixture of good friends that are all talented musicians with different styles and bands, who agreed to make music together for us. Our officiant is a good friend James got to know playing music with at a church for many years. The Reception band, The Pearl Tones, is a group of musicians James was once a part of, as a drummer. The hair and makeup artists were Becca’s coworkers and friends at Frenchy’s Beauty Parlor. Our cupcakes were made by James’ very talented aunt. And so on, and so forth.
Sweetest centerpieces ever.
Their love story…
On a night not unlike most nights, James, a bearded musician, went out to eat with some friends. He was the first to arrive at the gourmet sandwich restaurant and bar, Gourmand’s. As he waited at the bar for everyone to arrive he noticed his roommate Josh across the way having drinks. So he went over to say hello. As he approached he noticed Josh was with a friend. A girl type friend. A really, incredibly gorgeous girl type friend. So, James introduced himself to the woman and was clearly stunned by her beauty.
“Hello, I’m James Summers.”
The woman to Josh: “Wait, is this THE James Summers? The one you always talk about?”
Josh to the woman, looking a bit confused: “Oh ya… I forgot ya’ll haven’t met yet!’
James’ heart felt proud.
“Hi, I’m Becca.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Becca.”
James went on to join his friends and Josh and Becca joined soon after. They all shared drinks, laughs, and played Scattegories. While the interactions between James and Becca were few that night, there was something blossoming that neither of them was fully aware of. A week later, James asked Becca out on what would be their first of many dates; and the best and last first date either would ever have!
