Bride Heather’s family is from England and their SoCal venue L’Auberge Del Mar, offered a classic countryside backdrop for her + Chris’ wedding. They represented both of their styles by choosing a modern navy colored theme and elegant details. It all came together in those invites above from Nic. Roc. Designs, with modern, masculine yet beautiful design elements inspired by a photo Heather took of a painting at their venue.
Thanks to Shane and Lauren Photography for sharing these photos with us!
Heather looked stunning in her iconic Reem Acra gown (Remember when Olivia Wilde wore it to the Emmys?) and the navy bridesmaid dresses were a collaboration between her and her sisters. They designed them and her mom brought them to a family friend to sew.
Shane and Lauren tell us, In true English tradition, Heather and Chris placed a party cracker at each guest’s place setting. They were filled with fun little things like confetti poppers, fake mustaches, Rudolf noses, and paper crowns. It was such a fun element, and definitely got the guests in the mood to have a good time. This cake! Hey, There Cupcake! is brilliant with chic, modern cake designs.
As you probably know by now, a sparkler sendoff is always a good idea.
Last note: The signage + décor incorporated Heather’s father’s love of elephants, symbolized throughout:
He collected little elephant statues or art pieces and told us what incredible animals they were. They were all over his house. When he passed away they just became such a strong symbol of remembering him and mourning him. Amazingly, elephants have incredible memories and they also mourn their dead. The elephant image for me now represents him as a guardian, like he’s here even though he passed away. And we were able to use the beautiful ceremony he created for us girls when my sister got married. His voice was there in the ceremony, and his image was there throughout the wedding. Elephants can also symbolize fierce loyalty, which we thought was a beautiful theme to include. Loyalty to family and your roots, but also to each other. In that sense it was also the symbol for our union.
What a way to honor your father. Congratulations guys!
