It’s kinda rare that a golden fall landscape goes so effortlessly with the blues and whites of the ocean (best of both worlds, right?), but Emily Delamater Photography + Lindsey of L. Brook Events knew just the place: House Island in Casco Bay, Maine. Right off the coast of Portland, it’s a private 30-acre island that feels instantly like a faraway place, with the ocean on one side, the harbor on the other. Like Emily, Lindsey, and the team below imagined, it made for a beautifully understated and organic bridal scene.
Living by the ocean is one of the best things about living in Maine because we get to experience the magical and romantic qualities of the ocean in a way that few others truly understand. The salty smell in the air; the sound of waves and water rushing onto shore; a cool, crisp ocean breeze; the rich textures of the shoreline and terrain; and the intricate and lush flora of the island are all elements that inspired this shoot.
Those wedges and foraged bouquet by Watershed Floral add a little edge to this shoot, we think!
Isn’t this tablescape dreamy? They used an antique wood + mecury glass table with a handpainted runner and vintage bottles surrounded by quartz, sea salt, coral, sea glass, and shells.
Cement planters and urns filled with loose greens and herbs; tinted glass votives in varying shades of silver, green and teal; glass and metal lanterns and a wild, foraged bouquet were other design elements we included to evoke the same magical and romantic qualities as the ocean does.
Gotta end on a sweet note with an ombre cake…
