Big blooms and long ribbons flowing in the breeze… Feels like spring for sure! Kate told the team at Going Lovely that she loved the idea of just a bit of 1920s era influence, and from there they created a color story of blush, green, black and white stripes, and gold accents. The result? Elegant and formal, yet still laid back and relaxed. That’s the way to do it, we think. Thanks to Edyta Szyszlo Photography for the photos below! (Oh, and find her work in Monday’s feature here too.)
Kate + Adrian met in college in California, moved to Seattle together, and then shortly after jetted off to London for Adrian’s job opportunity. A year quickly turned to three, but when it came time to choose a wedding location, San Francisco was the place. The Presidio Chapel has a grand entrance and formal feel that Kate wanted guests to experience the way she did when she first saw the venue.
Don’t you love the leaf accents here? Twigss always impresses.
Kate says, My mother lost both of her parents within eight months of each other the year before we were to get married, and she was looking for a way to incorporate both of them into our wedding so that we could honor them in spirit on our big day. She happened to find two beautiful Waterford champagne glasses that were made from Dublin Irish crystal but were hand crafted in Milan. Her thought was that because both my grandparents were Italian, and especially because my proud grandmother also came from and Irish background as well, that these glasses encapsulated both of them perfectly. My grandparents loved to have a good time whenever the opportunity presented itself while they were alive, and my mom thought of what better way for Adrian and I to honor that aspect of them, than with our first toast as a married couple.
You really don’t need much more than a flower when the frosting looks this good!
Their sweet proposal story, via Kate, after she’d dropped hints all throughout Christmas and New Years without so much as a peep from Adrian…
Eleven days after New Years, on a very cold Friday morning, I heard Adrian get dressed and leave for work. It was basically like any other morning, except about twenty minutes after Adrian left, I heard the door open again, and Adrian walk back inside. I asked him if he forgot his bag, but the next thing I knew was he was on one knee next to the bed with my favorite flowers (stargazer lilies) and a little blue box! I didn’t even open the box before I said yes! We then spend the rest of the day playing hooky from Adrian’s work and enjoying the city.
The cutest. Congrats you two!
