From the beginning, F + B knew what they wanted—Frances found her dress on the first page of the first bridal magazine she saw and they were adamant about showing off the food, drink, and city skyline Melbourne, Australia is known for. They also knew that they didn’t want to place too much of a burden on friends + fam in the planning. Ben’s an Events Manager so he took care of the nitty gritty, and their stylist Georgeous Occasions designed a garden wedding that was both sophisticated and relaxed (read: Italian food + fancy drinks for all) for their big day.

Simple, modern, chic invites for the minimalist couple.
Not sure about wedding colors? Look in your closet! Frances + Ben noticed a theme of blue, which helped them stay away from anything that felt too feminine for their tastes.
Frances says, The Van Handel Group in Australia are synonymous with impeccable venues and dining. We just couldn’t pass up this city location and their modern Italian menu at Fatto Catina. It is situated in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD on the Yarra River and features an outdoor terrace so we sat all our guests outside overlooking the river, perfect on a balmy summer night. The city skyline provided a beautiful backdrop and with Chinese New Year we has the night sky full of fireworks. The team at Fatto developed a decadent modern Italian menu and allowed our guests their own select main course which is a real treat at weddings and we had so much positive feedback on that alone.
Bar and cantina? Yes please!
Final words about the restaurant, via Frances…
We were adamant about selecting a restaurant over a traditional wedding venue as it offers a vast range of benefits. There is normally no venue hire associated with that option, the furniture and décor are already there lowering hiring costs and most importantly a good restaurant will see the benefit of being fully booked and appreciate a new range of clientele that will experience the restaurant and as such go above and beyond in the level of food and service they provide.
Wishing you guys the best!
