Mils + Kathy’s summer garden wedding overflowed with symbols of their relationship. The venue was a historic American house with an English garden feel—repping both her American + his English roots. They incorporated his dream of being a pilot and her love of animals in the deets. Their main color was green (he loves blue, she loves yellow) with other fave color accents. Most importantly, supporting them were the people that knew they were in love even before they did, that rooted for them even when they took a 3 year break and found their way back to each other at last. Sounds like a pretty great day to us!
Thanks to Luke and Katherine of Max and Friends for sharing the pics.
When Max Wanger was booked up, he recommended the ever-talented Luke and Katherine to capture the big day. Kathy says, I looked up their work and was blown away. Amazing, gorgeous, breathtaking, words could not even describe what was going through my mind… They fit right in with our friends, cracking jokes and making us laugh, really truly getting us, and just understanding our needs and wants and protecting us from drama and craziness at times.
The DIY list: Korean + British cookies and tea, sewn felt fabric heart pins, spray painted gold airplane paperclips, paper straws with photos attached, a paper heart curtain, and paper airplanes that were thrown as they walked back up the aisle after the ceremony.
Guys, sometimes things like your dream venue being far out of your budget can be a blessing in disguise… That’s how they ended up at The Clifton Inn in Charlottesville, VA after all!
Had to share these last words from our bride…
When we lined up to walk down the aisle, my friend/big brother figure Aziz (who walked me down) asked if I was nervous. I laughed and said, “No, it’s weird, it’s like it’s not real, like we are putting on a fashion show or a play.” He laughed. I watched the girls go down one by one while Aziz and I joked and reminisced about how much I’d grown from the college freshman he knew that wore overalls to now a calm cool collected bride! Then all of a sudden my song Here Comes The Sun came on. My heart dropped to my stomach and I cursed, THIS IS REAL… THIS IS HAPPENING! My palms got sweaty and I got so nervous, all eyes were going to be on me. What if I tripped or fell? What if people didn’t like the food? What if I messed up my vows? What if, what if? But as we rounded the corner and I saw Mils, my heart warmed and my nerves melted and my eyes teared because I had finally found home and I would never have to search again. Seeing him look back at me with so much love and joy and hope for us and our future, it’s something that I will always cherish and never forget!
Too sweet. PS: Kathy’s Pinterest has more garden wedding goodness.
