Their favors were a custom map of Shawnee Inn on a bandana from Christian’s business Penham Supply Co. Courtney is also an interior designer + stylist behind Preservation PGH. Love us a creative duo!
Julia of Julia Elizabeth Photography says, Courtney and Christian had their wedding in the Poconos close to where they both grew up. They are both creatives so you can imagine how much time and thought went into the decor of the day. And it was so beautiful. They wanted the day to feel like adult Summer camp and it felt just that way. They got ready in cabins next to one another and they saw one another for the first time down by the water… Toward the end of the night we headed down to the water for sunset photos and just like the nature lover Courtney is, she went right into the water to cool off before heading back to the party.
They didn’t want to include colors that you couldn’t see just from standing alongside the river, so the whole design was very natural and bohemian, with lots of greenery and white.
Courtney explains, When Christian and I imagined our wedding, we both knew it had to be outside. We love nature, and wanted our wedding to reflect that in a totally organic way. Our outdoor, riverside venue—Shawnee Inn—encompassed that passion for us. That Inn and that river have a lot of beautiful memories for us—as children, as adults, and as a couple—and we felt it was the perfect setting for us to celebrate our future together as husband and wife.
Our original vision of a bohemian adult summer camp came true for us in so many ways that night, as our friends and family ate, drank, danced, and laughed under the stars. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful celebration or representation of our love for the earth, and for one another.
