Cakies, how gorgeous does our bridal party look against that pretty wall at Vibiana in DTLA? We’ve shared this stunning venue more than a few times (this editorial + this wedding come to mind), and we love to see what couples do with the space. Gabbi + Alex created their own ‘classic California modern’ wedding theme, with the help of Mein Schatz Events, which combined her desire for a natural vibe with his love of grand architecture. And did we mention the surprise performance from their friends from Phantom Planet, and the video message from Hanson?! Yep, their wedding wasn’t just gorgy, but full of surprises, too. Thanks to Our Labor Of Love for sharing the photos!
ALL about these jewel-toned Gucci heels. Love your style, Gabbi!
While on the venue hunt, they considered both the Parker Palm Springs + the Beverly Hills Hotel. Once they landed on Vibiana, they decided to tie in elements from both regardless, with the pink + green theme and a nod to mid-century modern design with the white, blacks, and golds.
On their fave moments… Alex says, Nothing can beat seeing Gabbi walk down the aisle and seeing her in her dress for the first time. I wanted to do a first look with our photographer so we could get a bunch of pictures out of the way, but Gabbi insisted I see her for the first time at the ceremony, and I am really really glad I listened to her. That was the best moment for me, hands down.
Gabbi says a close second was surprising her with a live performance from our friends from the band Phantom Planet and a video message from her favorite band, Hanson. That is correct, Hanson. Two friends in attendance were in Phantom Planet and they happily agredd to play a couple songs as a little mini reunion and gift to the bride and groom. After that, we rolled out a big video screen and played the Hanson message… Gabbi and her friends were screaming with excitement and it was really one of those moments that we, and the people at the wedding, will never forget. Then the DJ went right into Mmm Bop and the dance party started and it was perfect.
They loved the venue because it had enough space for their ceremony and cocktail hour in the courtyard, but also allowed for a grand indoor reception (see below).
Twig & Twine was behind the modern, tropical-inspired floral designs.Alex + Gabbi found Mein Schatz Events here on 100LC. So thrilled to hear it!
Their biggest hurdle in planning was choosing the guest list and arranging the seating chart for 215… Someone gave us some great advice about guest lists: No matter how many times you feel like you need to extend the cut off line and add more people, there will always be other people on the other side of that line. No matter how many people you invite, there will be some who don’t get invited and might get upset or hurt. Point being: if you have a number of people you want to invite, you can stick to it (wish we had taken this advice!).
They even laid out diagrams of all the tables and people’s names so they could come up with the best seating arrangements, and therefore create the vibe for the night.
Congratulations, Alex + Gabbi!
