Where are all our winter wedding fans at?! What about Gatsby lovers? Lauren + Brennan’s January wedding at The Metropolitan Club was all about that art deco grandeur of old New York. And when we say ALL about, we really do mean all: the venue, the dancers, the dark, elegant ceremony, the champagne lady… but enough spoilers. Just peruse these lovely photos by We Laugh, We Love below:
Isn’t this the most unique ceremony situation you’ve ever seen? The Metropolitan Club is the first and only venue these two needed to see. Clearly it has it all…
Their story… The bride and groom wanted to throw a decadent, whimsical party reflective of their fun-loving personalities and personal taste. An advertisement by A Taylored Affair in New York Magazine’s wedding edition, which read “Don’t be like the rest of them, darling,” encapsulated everything the couple wanted their wedding to be—not like the rest of them.
Best processional ever!
From the moment the wedding began (the groom walked down the aisle to a string quartet version of “Eye of the Tiger,” while the bride descended the grand two-story staircase of the Metropolitan Club and walked down the aisle to “Tonight, Tonight” by the Smashing Pumpkins), every detail spoke to who the couple is and what they love. The wedding captured the decadent whimsy of the bride’s favorite era, the Jazz Age, with a woman covered in flowers strolling through cocktail hour with a skirt that held 75 glasses of champagne and a life-sized framed custom vintage poster of the bride and groom greeting guests at the escort card table.
And *this* is why we love winter weddings. Too dreamy.
Cake genius Nine Cakes was behind their spectacular 20s inspired *gingerbread* cake.
Yes, please!
Brennan celebrated his Jewish heritage by surprising Lauren (who recently converted to Judaism) with bottle dancers who entered to the Fiddler on the Roof wedding song… It was a nod to both Fiddler and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (one of their fave shows).
And did we mention the gorgeous NYC wedding portraits?
One of Lauren’s most memorable moments during the wedding—when she realized that she and Brennan truly had truly their vision of decadence, whimsy, and fun—happened just before their entrance as Mr. and Mrs. Gumerove, when her second cousin’s husband sauntered by and exclaimed to the newlyweds, “I’m just waiting for Jay Gatsby to show up!”
Yep, we’ll need to scroll through this one again… Cheers to Lauren + Brennan!
