Who here’s all about following travel influencers on the ‘gram? We love the eye candy but they always leave us wanting more (and a tad jealous). So when we came across The Adventures of A & Z, run by eco travel couple, Allison and Zach, we were quick to soak up all the great travel tips and hidden gems they’ve shared. They’re total experts! We thought they’d be the perfect duo to ask about honeymoon experiences—especially as they tied the knot just last year—and lucky for us, they agreed! Read on to see which destinations they recommend to provide adventurous couples with the most unique honeymoon experiences. Here’s Allison:
Rice Terrace Tegallalang in Tegallalang, Bali, Indonesia
These rice terraces were truly spectacular, offering jungle swings, zip lining, and hillside cafes. A must-see destination while in Bali! (Above two photos)
Zamas Hotel in Tulum, Mexico
My husband and I actually stayed here for one of my best friend’s weddings in Tulum as it was the venue! We were shocked at how luxurious and spacious our room was. Highly recommend staying at Zamas!
Pro Tip: If you opt for the rooms not in beachfront you get way more space and at a cheaper cost and it’s only a minute walk to the ocean. You can typically also get an ocean view if you have a second floor.
Firefly Eco Lodge in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
Wow this place is quite a hidden gem! It was probably the most tucked away place we stayed on our travels even though it’s in the heart of Ubud. They have lots of cool eco treehouses and villas. We loved staying on the top floor of the bird’s nest—where we used a drone for the photo taken. We had shared bathrooms and showers at the base along with lockers for our luggage, and it was only $25 a night!
Burasari Phuket Resort & Spa in Phuket, Thailand
Burasari Phuket Resort & Spa is a hidden oasis in the heart of Patong Beach. The spa is very luxurious as well and is perfect for honeymooners who want to relax.
Qhispikay Glamping in the general Cusco region of Peru.
If you’re looking for a sustainable and immersive cultural experience, this is for you! You stay with local families as your host, can pick from a variety of cultural experiences, hikes, etc. It is helpful to know basic Spanish, although for some hosts Spanish is their second language, with native Incan Quechuan being their first. We stayed at both their Huilloc location (pictured) and Misminay location. Misminay was our favorite!
Pro Tip: Sneak a peek at each glamping site on their Instagram Stories.
Blue Lagoon, Iceland
I have never seen anything like this in the world. It’s a beautiful milky baby blue lagoon that is as warm as a jacuzzi even though it is so cold outside. It is one of the biggest tourist destinations in Iceland so you have to buy tickets in advance, but it is a place not to be missed! They have lockers, showers, etc. but if you’re wanting to bring your camera or cell phone to take photos I suggest keeping a small dry bag with you or having a waterproof phone necklace case.
Selina La Fortuna in La Fortuna, Costa Rica
If you’re looking for an adventurous tropical getaway, La Fortuna is amazing! Although Selina has hostel accommodations (here), they also have luxurious private rooms, or cool teepees like the ones we stayed in. This is a super fun environment for young adventure-seeking couples!
Pro Tip: Make sure to put on a lot of bug spray!
Thanks to Allison of The Adventures of A & Z for sharing her top honeymoon destinations! Be sure to give them a follow.
