The Cycladic island of Santorini has always been among Alina & James’ top destinations to vacation and with 2020 marking the couple’s 5th dating anniversary, the time felt right for James to pop the question and top it with a beautiful elopement at the volcanic haven. Check out the beautiful arch backdrop, simulating Santorini’s unique “yposkafes” (arched passageways hewn into the rock) and all the other details below, photographed by Panosdemiro Poulos…
They explored the cobbled maze of candy-colored paths and sugar-hued abodes feeling as though they had the entire island to themselves.
If you’ve been to Santorini, you have seen the island’s unique color palette, ranging from salt to limestone pink which transforms as the light shifts. Alina fell in love with this opalescent effect, and their designer channeled the hues right into the wedding scheme. Perfection! They read their vows at dusk and soon as the light cascaded down the rose-colored cliffs and lights began to twinkle across the hill, her bouquet lit up.
A magnificent private dinner below, at El Viento in Megalochori village with the terrace overlooking the steep slopes of the caldera. So stunning!
The couple ended their day in this beautiful lounge, overlooking the sea, with soft patterned cushions and throws, dainty fairy lights, and a minibar placed against El Viento’s 14th-century stone windmill, the oldest on the island.
What a dream! Thank you for sharing the beauty of your wedding day with us!
