If last week was the week of trending wedding color palettes, then this week is all about creative concepts. We kicked it off with a “Butcher and the Baker” yellow wedding editorial and now a neon, retro True Romance inspired shoot that basically encapsulates everything that’s enticing about a classic Vegas elopement. Amber of Rock & Stone Weddings has the scoop behind these photos Carley Jayne documented at the famous Seven Magic Mountains installation:
Amber says, Seven Magic Mountains is an art installation in the Nevada desert about thirty minutes outside of Vegas. The juxtaposition of the boldly colored neon rocks against the barren desert landscape is so unexpected and striking and we wanted to design a shoot that reflected that. Rather than create something with a traditional desert vibe, the location called for something a little alternative and I sought inspiration from one of my all time favorite movies, Tarantino’s True Romance! Back in the 90’s before elopements were fashionable, the ridiculously in love Clarence & Alabama hotfooted it out of Detroit and across the country in a black comedy of misadventures! The movie is full of neon brights, Americana, epic landscapes and a crazy kind of love! I wanted to capture those elements but use the fashion and styling to elevate it to something more contemporary.
Only a pink suit + neon orange boutonniere would do for our free-spirited groom.
Love Fern Design was behind these hot pink acrylic wedding invitations + place cards, and Bespoke Tacoma created custom signage to match. These king + queen chair signs are the raddest.
The Daughters of Simone Badu gown was the perfect dress… the delicate fringe and beading made it part desert boho and part Vegas showgirl and our gorgeous model Steph totally rocked it! The dream catcher earrings, silver boots & All Saints leather jacket were the perfect contrasting accessories. Our hair and makeup artists created a bold, rocky look and the slicked back hair was reminiscent of Robert Palmer’s Addicted to Love video, creating an iconic and unique bridal look.
After baking in the desert we went back to the strip to shoot the couple at the iconic Fun City Motel + self-proclaimed ‘World Famous’ Chapel of the Bells! In contrast to the desert landscape and modern installation, they represent the seedier side of old Vegas… which tied in perfectly to the movie inspiration… Clarence & Alabama were no stranger to a seedy motel and run ins with the Mob! As the golden hour light hit the strip Carley was able to capture the most beautiful, sexy and dramatic images of our wildly in love couple… and there was no acting required! Kevin & Steph are getting married ‘for real’ in October, so we get to do it all again!
So fun! All the best to Kevin + Steph, can’t wait to see what the big day brings!
