Hi everyone! Amanda here. Today’s the day I am finally sharing with you the results of our year long home renovation, starting with one of my favorites.. the master bathroom! You may remember the inspiration I posted for this room awhile back. And here we are with the real thing! Ahhh let’s peek, shall we?
Our home previously didn’t have a master bathroom and we used to share the main bathroom with any guests that came over. The tub was old and small, so I rarely took baths (don’t worry, I showered!). There was bad tile on every surface, an old mirror and rusted fixtures, so I was desperately in need of a mama’s oasis!
The main goal of the bathroom was to have a relaxing retreat that would remind us of our travels through Italy and Mexico. Graphic tiles, stucco, warm wood and hints of champagne satin brass throughout the room gave it a serene, yet eye-catching look. I worked with Wayfair on all of the fixtures, including the sink faucets, bath faucet, shower head, tub, toilet, sinks and towel accessories.
Here’s a peek at what area became the bathroom before we started. Literally torn down to nothing!
Bathtub framing and tile going in…
We incorporated a graphic tile on the floor using Cletile, which reminded us of the many amazing tiled floors in Rome. A clean white subway tile on the wall provided a neutral backdrop for the bold fixtures. A black penny tile went onto the shower floor to create a bit of depth.
The textured wall surrounding the bath was influenced by the stucco we grew to love all over Puglia, Italy as well as the Mexican Riviera. If you’re looking to do something similar, the product we used is called Merlex Super Shower! It is a sealed cement product, so water does not damage it, and it comes in many different colors. I just love how it turned out and it adds such a serene feeling to the bathroom! I come in here and turn on my aromatherapy diffuser, or light a candle while I’m getting ready and it sets the tone for the whole rest of the day.
I searched and searched for mirrors to complete this space, and found these from Rejuvenation, which ended up being perfect! I love how the black frames delineate space and add a bit of contrast to the wall, and also compliment the Cedar and Moss sconces.
I still can’t believe I have a grown up bathroom of my own (with my husband of course!). It’s one of my favorite rooms in the house. I’ll be sharing new rooms in our renovation very soon, so stay tuuuuned!
