Home renovations can be so exciting yet SO hard. The architectural plans, the contractors, the quotes, (the money! or lack thereof!) the demolition and construction. For me, the exciting part comes with all the details at the end.. fixtures, tile, paint colors and of course the most important.. hardwood floors! I’m such a stickler on finding the perfect design for a project, and I decided to work with BuildDirect on the flooring for my whole house. BuildDirect connects you directly with suppliers so that you can choose from a huge online selection of home improvement products, at a major discount. When you’re throwing ungodly amounts of money at a renovation, the word “discount” is music to the ears, yes?
I’ve painstakingly collected tons of inspiration for our project and here is just a little taste. Think light oaky wood, wide planks, and a modern airy feeling. I wanted our home to feel modern and warm, with a hint of a vacation vibe. (Because, why not be on vacation in your own home?)
I searched BuildDirect’s site for all of the wide plank woods I could find. They literally have everything…oak, hickory, birch, maple, you name it. My eyes were set on the French oaks, and there were many color variations within that parameter (who knew!). After BuildDirect helped me narrow my selection, the sent free overnight samples right to my door. Lighthouse White was the winner!

Ahh, the construction phase. Here are a few rooms in our home before we laid the hardwood down:
Gotta love a clean slate! Our new oaky hardwood floors look SO good, and I can’t wait to show you the final outcome! Here’s a sneak peek..
