How cute are these two? When Liberty + Stephen first starting planning, the words ‘organic’, ‘garden-like’, and ‘greenery’ came to mind. Add in watercolor elements, spring weather, and a few eclectic details, and they made their venue Pecan Springs even prettier than it already was. Thanks to Jennifer Laura Design + Feather and Twine Photography for sending this our way!
Wedding music:
They love (and first bonded over, of course) 90s R&B, so their first dance to Lauryn Hill’s Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You was an obvi choice. The processional was Your Hand In Mind by Explosions in the Sky + Beyonce’s Halo, by a string quartet. The recessional was Love On Top and she walked down the aisle to Canon in D.
Liberty explains, Stephen proposed during our last year in medical school on the beach in San Francisco with the sun setting on the Golden Gate Bridge. Since medical school graduation, we are now finally together, working as resident physicians in Philadelphia! The most stressful thing about wedding planning was deciding on a venue. He is from Cambridge, Massachusetts but had been living in Philadelphia, and I am from Houston, Texas but had been living in San Francisco… We chose to get married in Houston where most of my family is based; we figured that meeting in the middle would be a fun way for all of 150 guests to be reunited.
For the backdrop, they hung ombre dip dyed cloth behind gold balloons. So fun! See L’s Pinterest for more décor ideas.
Advice on planning from afar, c/o our bride… For long-distance brides, my advice is this: use technology (Google chat, Skype, email, Facetime, etc.) as much as you need to meet your potential vendors, plan well-timed visits to your wedding location to have in-person meetings, and try to give yourself at least a week prior to the wedding to finalize last-minute details. Don’t forget about small details, such as how to get your dress to your wedding destination! Also, for those indecisive moments: go with your gut, and if, further down the line, you decide on something else, it’s not the end of the world—do what feels right! That advice helped me to not get paralyzed in the tiny details. Lastly, have fun! It goes by so fast, so relish in the awesome moments (like when my dad spontaneously busted out some excellent ballroom dancing moves during our dance), and it will truly be the best day ever.
Cheers!
