As much as we can’t wait to see what Spring 2019 brings, we know some of you are planning fall and winter weddings. If your style is modern and romantic, just wait till you peep Gina and Carson’s big day. (We mean, that ceremony backdrop!!) It all took place at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, where they could combine their modern, classic style with fine art and architecture for the perfect blend. Thanks to Emily Wren Photography for sending it our way!
They created modern wedding invitations from Minted, with clean lines as a nod to Carson’s job as an architect.
Apparently these white block heels from Nordstrom made for the comfiest bridal shoes!
A few notes on the day… Spend any amount of time with Gina & Carson and you will find yourself smiling and laughing. This sweet couple was a joy to work with and their December wedding at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts was a stunning reflection of their vibrant personalities. Their vision combined a refined sense of beauty, with a love of architecture and mid-century modern aesthetics alongside a playfulness that made the day as fun and approachable as the couple themselves!
The bridesmaids wore floor-length black gowns and carried sweet little bundles of baby’s breath. The groomsmen wore black tuxedos, with matching black bowties and scarlet boutonnieres. Altogether, the group looked right at home in the sophisticated gallery spaces! The ceremony took place in the Hamilton Building on a gorgeous Antique Oriental rug from Maggpie Vintage set in front of a subtly textured, hand-painted backdrop from Dusted Backdrops. Textured florals encircled the space with billowing clouds of baby’s breath accented with long, arching stems of bold red blooms and gem-like peacock feathers. Gina & Carson’s vows we’re deeply personal—filled with emotional sentiments, heartfelt humor, and joyful promise.
The bride explains, We were looking for a venue that was very unique and “non-wedding.” Almost all of our 180 guests were visiting from out of town, and we wanted to show them a special part of Philly with our wedding venue. We loved the clean lines and modern feel of PAFA, and the fact that it came partially decorated with art already on the walls! With so many amazing indoor locations to take photos and host our wedding, it was a no-brainer for a modern winter wedding.
Beautiful modern blooms from TEXTURE Florals.
Cheers to the happy couple!
