We have such a special wedding for you today, Cakies. Our friends Steph of A Dapper Line and Austin Hendrix tied the knot in the woods in Big Bear, and our pal Paige Jones sent over all the darling photos for your perusal. Their design was beyond pretty, incorporating lots of current wedding trends (hi, floral bridesmaids!) in a super timeless and romantic way. But even better than that, S + A made the day about their love, their families, and their children, so there was something special for every person in attendance. Be sure to pause at the end for a look at Austin’s film!
All about this first look coming up… So cute!
Steph’s bouquet by Rachael of Siren Floral Co featured preserved ruscus, troll hair grass, honey dijon roses and koko loko roses.
Floral wedding parties forever! Steph was inspired by a French wedding she’d seen with mismatched ‘maids in nontraditional dresses. Despite everyone choosing their own, the prints and colors fit in effortlessly with their summery color palette.
Love this little dude’s wedding look.
Not to mention this cutie moment.
She walked down the aisle in a floaty A La Robe gown from LOHO Bride.
After the ceremony, Pharmacie got the cocktail party started.
Such a pretty escort card idea, don’t you agree? Each of the hand-painted envelopes were personalized with a letter to that particular guest, written on a card drawn by their girl Lucca. And Austin’s father-in-law built the frame!
Amber Moon was behind the paper pieces (with calligraphy by Steph), which made for some so so lovely place settings.Steph explains, We centered a lot of the day around the meal, wanting the chance to see guests and eat the best pasta in the world that was cooked for us, so generously, by our friend Evan Funke. We wanted to dance. So much so that we booked a Silent Disco to ensure the party wouldn’t be shut down. We spent a lot of time on subtle details: letters to guests, coloring books for the kids. It was important to us, even in details that were unnoticed, to honor our four families coming together: my adopted and biological family, Austin’s family and his late wife’s family. Ultimately, we just wanted to throw a great party with people we love.
Steph’s dad drew these sweet coloring books for the kids at dinner.
Our hope, in imagining our wedding, was to optimize time with our people. A lot of our family flew in from the east coast and many of the friends who are in California traveled hours to attend. We wanted a venue where people could land for the weekend. We wanted multiple meals with people so we actually had a chance to connect. Our budget limited us from using most of the venues that you can book for the entire weekend. Instead, my maid of honor’s family was generous enough to offer up their home in Big Bear. It allowed us to celebrate with a welcome dinner on Friday night in their front yard, Saturday’s ceremony in a natural clearing in their woods, then dinner and dancing on the lawn behind their house. We closed out on Sunday with a quick brunch at the lake before people got on the road.
