Morning, Cakies! Here’s a wedding theme you’ve never seen before: the butcher and the baker. Yep, being the food lovers they are, our friends at Amorology and Oak and the Owl went all out with this modern interpretation of the classic nursery rhyme, complete with this intriguing butcher block setup and lots of interesting foodie details throughout. Sure, many of you probably won’t be taking the meat theme so literally for your own weddings, but consider this your lesson on interpreting a concept with the utmost creativity. Not to mention, all the beautiful yellow wedding ideas we’ve been talking so much about! Thanks to Michael Radford for sharing the photos!
Aren’t these custom calligraphed mini rolling pins the perfect favors slash escort cards?
Heather of Amorology explains, Playing off our love for all things food, we created a concept inspired by the beloved nursery rhyme, “the Butcher & the Baker and the Candlestick Maker.” We married the nursery rhyme, quite literally, with our groom as the butcher {James Butcher} and our bride as the baker and gave note to the sweetness of love and the magic that’s created when you mix together the perfect ingredients. Our color palette was made of neutrals of brown butcher paper, flour whites and steel gray and accented with bright pops of yellow to give a nod to the light + warmth of candles!
If you weren’t sold on yellow wedding bouquets for summer, you’ve gotta be now…
We enveloped their ceremony in light and candlesticks as their unity table took center stage with a gorgeous bright spring floral installation hanging above by Oak and the Owl. After the ceremony, mini rolling pins with guest names calligraphed by Betlem Calligraphy acted as their “roll call” to lead guests to their seats, thee chairs and table top were thoughtfully wrapped in butcher paper and set with with Casa de Perrin’s concrete dinnerware, gold flatware, and smoked gold-rimmed glassware and finally topped with a paper menu and rolling pin place card.
That yellow ceremony floral install is just too pretty!
The details on this table are such a good example of how you can take a concept that’s meaningful to you as a couple, like food or baking, and translate it to a design.
We imagined our newlyweds gathering their loved ones for a befitting celebration feast of charcuterie + cured meats, paired with her freshly baked loaves. The epicurean evening would come to a close by treating guests to homemade caramel drip cakes crowned with candles of course! We couldn’t imagine anything sweeter than starting a new tradition of couples blowing out candles and making a wish together on their wedding day!
